Henry Fleches is the President and Chief Executive Officer of United Data Technologies, Inc. (UDT). Henry co-founded UDT with high school teammate and friend Gerard Amaro.
Under the leadership, persistence and dogged determination of Henry Fleches UDT has grown from a dream start-up in 1995 to a leader in Managed IT Solutions. Henry credits his business acumen to his father, the owner of a Miami-based small business.
Henry launched United Data Technologies (UDT) in 1995. Concurrent with running his fledgling business, Henry enrolled in Florida International University to earn his Bachelor's degree in business administration. Seventeen years since its initial launch, UDT continues to serve a growing roster of both commercial and public sector clients throughout the United States, and pursues its unique standing within various verticals such as K-12 education, healthcare, service provider, federal, financial and others.
From its early days of providing IT consulting, UDT continues to set the standard as the Solution Provider of choice for both its trusted partners and well as its growing list of clientele throughout the U.S. Today, the company that Inc Magazine has labeled one of the 50 fastest growing IT firms in the U.S., offers a broad scope of horizontal and segment-specific solutions.
Henry Fleches was honored in 2011 as the Hispanic Business Enterprise Chair for the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as other accolades to include The American Dreamer Award, Movers and Shakers, CRN Fast Growth, Inc. 500/5000 and many others. Henry leads the way in customer advocacy within the technology industry by Chairing HP’s Public Sector Advisory Council as well as sitting on Intel Corporations Advisory Council.
Henry’s passion for “doing the right thing, and then doing things right” fuels the commitment that both Henry and Gerard share for community and especially kids. “The leaders of tomorrow require the opportunities and resources today” says Henry. UDT’s investment in children is evident as a board member of the Face Foundation and supporter of programs such as Junior Achievement, The Urban League, Private/Public educational scholarships, Technology Funding to schools for Education and 12th Man Football Camp and Cheer.
Today, Henry remains heavily involved in operations, finance, sales and marketing, and is the company’s chief visionary. Henry lives with his family in Miami Lakes, Florida.
Gerard Amaro
Co-Founder
Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Since co-founding United Data Technologies (UDT) with childhood friend, Henry Fleches, in 1995, Gerard Amaro has been integral to the company’s strategic planning and aggressive growth. From the start, Gerard was involved in addressing customers’ support and high-level networking issues, first as a Novell Engineer, and later as a business solutions counselor.
Over time, Gerard's responsibilities expanded to include sales and overall strategic direction of UDT. Gerard currently is responsible for managing all aspects of the UDT sales force, including sales strategy, structure, goals, revenue generation, marketing, training, and development.
Gerard earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University in Miami. He lives with his family in Miami Lakes, Florida.
James Cline
Chief Financial Officer
James Cline serves as the Chief Financial Officer at UDT. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of UDT’s finance function including financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury and financial planning and analysis. Before joining UDT, he held the post of CFO with a commercial real estate development company. James was selected as a CFO of the Year by the South Florida Business Journal for 2012 among top financial officers across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. He has more than 20 years of financial management experience, including with Arthur Andersen, Hilton Hotels Corporation and media companies. As Vice President of Finance with CBS Interactive, Cline was instrumental in the development and success of the CBSSports.com website.
James earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialty in Accounting and Management from University of Texas at El Paso. He serves on the Advisory Board of Keiser University, Board of Advisors of the CFO Alliance and on the Executive Leadership Team of the American Heart Association 2012 Broward Heart Walk. James currently resides with his wife and three children in Weston, Florida.
Daniel Rodriguez
CTO and Vice President of Technology Services
Daniel Rodriguez, CTO and Vice President of Technology Services, is responsible for all UDT technical services and solutions, including professional services engineering, technology consulting, client services and operations center, Instructional Technology and Professional Development solutions, Audio Visual solutions, internal information technology infrastructure, facilities, and project management.
Prior to joining UDT, Daniel was the Global Alliances CTO at EMC Corporation, a $14 billion information infrastructure and storage provider. He was responsible for pre-sales systems engineering, client solutions, technology consulting, and strategic technology direction for many global Fortune 500 customers. Previously, Daniel was a managing director at StrataSys Corporation, a Miami-based systems and network integration firm.
Daniel attended Miami Dade College and Florida International University and received degrees in Computer Science and Management Information Systems.
Tony Cossio
Vice President of Public Sector
Tony Cossio is Vice President, Public Sector, overseeing UDT’s Public Sector Sales, including K-12, higher education, and government accounts. Tony joined UDT following a career at Hewlett Packard, where he was a Sales Representative and later was named Senior Account Manager. He rose to become District Sales Manager overseeing the public sector data center sales and services team for HP throughout Florida. and eventually led the Client Product Group / Personal Systems Group for all public sector clients in the Southeast U.S., including Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas.
Previously, Tony was a Sales Representative with NCR Corp., and before that spent three years as a high-school teacher and administrator.
Tony earned his bachelor’s in business administration from Florida International University in 1976, and later attended graduate school for a masters in business administration. He currently lives in Miami.
Scott Byers
Vice President of Sales and General Manager, Mid-South
Scott Byers has been Vice President of Sales and General Manager for the Mid-South U.S. since his arrival at the company in 2009. His strengths include building services organizations and professional sales teams at small to mid-sized companies and growing those companies to become large regional or national entities. He previously served as Executive Vice President at ProSys Information Systems, and prior to that was General Manager, Southeast Region, with Sayers Group. Scott also has served in business development in the technology consulting field.
Prior to entering the technology services industry, Scott played professional baseball for the Anaheim Angels. An Atlanta native, he earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Jesus Peña
Vice President of Sales, Florida and the Caribbean
As VP of Sales in Florida and the Caribbean, Jesus Peña commands the productive sales force that has made UDT the leading IT solutions company in the region. Jesus joined the UDT team in 2011 with extensive experience as an informational technology entrepreneur and sales executive. He started as Florida Director of Sales and quickly advanced to his current position due to his in-depth knowledge of sales and the IT industry.
Jesus has spent his entire career in IT. He began as a programmer, and then moved into the networking arena. In 1995, Jesus launched a successful unified data communications company called DavocomOne and later sold the company in 2000. Among other accomplishments, Jesus developed a unified voice, video and data solution for multi-dwelling units and was part of another successful venture as a reseller with R2 Technologies.
Jesus earned his Associates of Arts degree in Computer Science from Miami-Dade College and studied Management Information Systems at Florida International University. Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Peña is married, has four children, and lives in Miami.
